Because here comes a tiny tactician.

BARRELING RIGHT INTO YOU. To be fair, she was distracted, looking behind her, and it's pretty clear that she's...running away from something. One moment's inattention, glancing over her shoulder, and she slams right into him.]

[and then she's falling because let's be fair, he's got height and weight on her.]

physically, he probably is ready for a lot of things on a subconscious level. So he was probably focused on something else when she runs into him and here's the part where he gets to be cool because he reacts almost automatically.

Hope you don't mind if you're suddenly being lifted off the ground, Morgan, because he's wrapping his arms around her waist and swooping her up off her feet and looking up at her, tilting his head in curiosity.]

Hi there.

I guess I don't even need to tell you to watch where you're going, huh?

[And then she's in the air. It's a surprise, that's for sure, but she just takes the moment where she isn't falling but instead flying to quickly run a sleeve over her eyes. It's not particularly subtle, but at least it takes care of the tears.

And then she blinks at him, before smiling weakly and squirming a bit.]

Well, maybe if you weren't in the way...!

[...then she pauses, looking him over carefully.]

...You're all right though. [right?]

[ . . . ah.

Sakon smiles brightly in response, as if the energy from his will transfer over to her. Maybe that's what he's hoping. Regardless, he's still going to tease-]

Or maybe you were barreling straight for me!

[But then at the next statement, he pulls her into a hug, keeping her in a secure hold. For some reason, his normally bright and cheery friend's been shaken and he's aware of that much.]

I'm invincible, actually. And you're gonna be just fine too. I'll bet money on that much.

[She's a bit surprised by the sudden hug, but a moment later, she relaxes into it. The touch is nice. She's always been a very affectionate person, and so...hugs from friends are never bad things.

She just rests her head against his chest and shakes off the urge to cry. None of that now--there are still things she needs to do.

So when she speaks, it's mumbled and muffles by his chest, but otherwise in a reasonably strong tone.]

I'm gonna hold you to it, if you're going to make claims that you're invincible. You can't just say things like that and not back them up, you know.

[a faint pause, and then her resolve returns, and she smiles a bit to herself.]

Of course I'll be fine! I'm the sort of person who never has problems!

[When she rests her head on him, he just starts to sway back and forth if only because he's still utterly incapable of standing still. There there, friend. Don't worry too much about things.]

No duh I'm invincible. Nothing can get me! I'll prove it to you - I'm gonna make it out of all of this without a single scratch.

[There isn't a single doubt in his voice even as he sets her back on the ground, though he continues to bend at the waist so that he doesn't quite have to let go of the hug.]

You sure about that though? I think the panic made you even clumsier than usual for a second there.

[She's just quiet for a moment, nodding. And then she grins up at him, tilting her head.]

Without a scratch! I'll be holding you to that.

[...oh right, the panic. She looks thoughtful at that, though she's still smiling now that she's gotten it back. And then her response is just. So plainly stated.]

Well, yeah. Anyone would be panicked if their sort-of-mother from another timeline ended up being re-possessed by the evil dragon god and wants to make you his obedient soldier...right? I mean, that's pretty panic-inducing!

I can't be alone here in this.

[ . . . ]

Wow, that's worse than I thought!

[So don't mind him if he's actually going to let go of her and put his hands on her cheeks, wiping away anyone of the remaining tear tracks with his thumbs-]

[- and then definitely pulling at her cheeks.]

[Isn't he the greatest friend.

He's letting go of her cheeks after that if only because he's now clutching his stomach because he's laughing so hard. Oh no Morgan, you're too funny.]

[He's actually going to pull on his own cheeks to demonstrate, even though what comes out of his mouth is]

[and then he's right back to laughing]

And shaking her head at him, though she stands on her tippy toes to poke his chest with a finger. (she may be exaggerating the height difference now).]
